Requirement to Volunteer
The success of our swim meets depends heavily on the active involvement of all parents. Each parent must volunteer for the Newark Bluefins Swim Team. For each swimmer you have on the team, you must do the following:
- Volunteer at time trials
- 4 volunteer jobs throughout the season
- 1 volunteer job at EBSL Champs if your swimmer is invited by a coach to EBSL Champs
If you have more than one swimmer, the above list of volunteer requirements is multiplied by the number of swimmers you have on the team.
Failure to do your volunteer jobs will result in either monetary fines or your swimmer not being asked to return to the team.
Volunteer Jobs Instructions
You first need to go to our "Calendar" tab to view the event.
Then, look for this button on the events to select the event you need to sign-up for.
Season-long jobs:
- Group coordinators
- Announcer
- Starter
- Computer desk
- Timing table
- Ribbons
Per Meet Jobs:
- Set-up
- Timing
- Head timer
- Recorder
- Runner
- Snack shack
- Teardown
- Ad-hoc jobs through the season
The above jobs will be available on the Calendar sign-up button for swim meets or non-swim events. As we get closer to the meets, we will email the link for signing up for volunteer jobs. Some things to keep in mind:
- Jobs are first-come, first-served basis and fill up quickly on the site.
- At the start of each meet, you will need to check-in with our volunteer coordinator and get your tag for your meet job.
- When doing your job, you cannot be on your phone or have young children with you. We need you to focus on your job.
- Volunteer jobs are done at home meets and away meets.
- EBSL Champs jobs are a little different and those jobs will be announced at the Champs meeting later in the season.
